Referral Source Provider Number Table
By using the Referral Source Provider Number Table, you can store
insurance carrier specific provider numbers for each referral source.
The Referral Source Provider Number Table provides the following
functions for maintaining referral source provider numbers:
NOTE: You should not store the referral source's UPIN or NPI numbers
in this table; those numbers are contained in the Referral Source Table.
The only time an entry is needed in this table is if an insurance
carrier requests the referring physician's provider number or Tax I.D.
to print on the insurance form instead of the UPIN. If an entry is found
in this table, the provider number entered for that referral source and
insurance carrier will print in Box 17a of the HCFA form (or its electronic
equivalent).
NOTE: When you create insurance claims, CGM webPRACTICE looks at
the tables in the following order to get the Referring Doctor provider
number or UPIN number.
1. Tables, Referral Source Table, Provider Number Table, Maintain Provider
Numbers - Provider Number.
2. Tables, Referral Source Table, Maintain Referral Sources - UPIN
Number.
3. Tables, Doctor Code Table, Maintain Doctor Codes - UPIN Number,
if the Referral Source for the claim is '0'.
