Install Update or Service Pack
With the Install Update or Service Pack function, you can install CGM webPRACTICE updates or manually install service pack files. This function should only be performed from your CGM webPRACTICE server.
Prior to installing any updates or service packs, it is imperative that you have a current backup of your system. If any problems arise during the installation process it is necessary to have a current backup available in case the CGM webPRACTICE software is damaged and needs to be restored. (For example, the power could go out in the middle of the installation.) For information about backing up your system, see Backup Policy.
You should install the update or service pack during CGM webPRACTICE's regular customer service hours so you can get assistance with the installation process, if necessary.
Prior to accessing this function, you should print a copy of the Updates or Service Pack Installation Steps.
Installing an Update
Upon accessing this function, the program automatically installs the file and displays the status on the screen as it performs each step. When the installation is complete, a message appears that states, 'The update has been successfully installed.' The CGM webPRACTICE Version Number automatically updates, which you should verify using the Display Version Number function.
Installing a Service Pack
Upon accessing this function, the function looks for current service packs, downloads the file from CGM, automatically installs the file, and displays the status on the screen as it performs each step. When the installation is complete, a message appears that states, 'The Service Pack has been successfully installed.' The CGM webPRACTICE Version Number will automatically update, which you should verify using the Display Version Number function.
If CGM webPRACTICE cannot locate the file that contains the next update/service pack, the message 'Unable to find the next update file in sequence' appears. Updates and Service Packs must be installed in sequence and this function prevents you from installing the files out of sequence.
