Load the HCPCS Codes

With the Load the HCPCS Codes function you can import the HCPCS code file.  The current HCPCS code file from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is made available as it becomes effective.  If your practice uses multiple databases, you must perform this function within each database.

NOTE: This function automatically selects the Bill to Insurance check box for every code loaded and leaves the Normal Price field blank in the Procedure Code Table.

Upon accessing this function, an informational screen displays. Read the screen and click Proceed. After that, the instructions differ slightly whether you will:





Load the HCPCS Code Set from CGM US

After you click Proceed select the Year of the file you want to load.

The Drive and File Name fields are informational only and reflect the information that was entered by CGM when the file was made available. Indicate the codes you want to load.

NOTE: We recommend you do not select to overwrite the existing Brief Code Descriptions with those provided in the file, unless your HCPCS Table has not been previously loaded. This function will only extract the first fifty characters of the description provided, which is usually less descriptive than any description you may have manually entered.		 1


A new screen displays the progress. Click Proceed after the loading of the codes is complete.

 



Load the HCPCS Code Set from the American Medical Association

After you click Proceed on the informational screen, you will receive the following message. Click OK and then click Load File in the Action Column.



Complete the Drive and File Name fields to identify the file and indicate which codes you want to load.
